Providing personal care for a higher needs loved one can be stressful. worrisome and time consuming; we love them, but we are not trained for the specific tasks and effort required to serve their needs. We may also have concerns with regard to them being lonely and isolated or we may feel stressed simply imagining what would happen at a time of emergency, if not properly prepared, or they were alone. In-home visiting caregivers provide a valuable service, but not necessarily for everyone. It can be more expensive than an assisted living home and subject to frequent changes of caregivers. Attention and care is generally only available during preset appointments; however, those for whom we care, may need more frequent companionship, supervision, a sense of belonging and the security of knowing that someone is always available.
