There are many options that are available to provide you or your loved ones with long-term care. But how do you “shop” for these things? What do you need to look for when you are comparing the various providers and organizations? Quality of care they is obviously important. This includes the clinical and medical aspects of our service. But there is so much more that needs to be considered in the equation. We practice “person centered care”. The PERSON comes first and the uniqueness of each person is respected and honored. Just because someone needs some help, is older, has a disability, or is living with dementia does not mean that they should lose their right to be treated as a person. Person-centered values include choice, dignity, respect, privacy, self-determination and purposeful living. Making choices about your own life, being listened to and “heard,” and being truly “known” is a basic human right. Wheat State Manor, Inc. has a tremendous heritage of love and caring. Nine churches, two in Whitewater, two in Potwin and five from neighboring communities worked together to make the vision of providing a nursing care home a reality. An article in the Newton Kansas newspaper (1973) quoted the Rev. Alfred H. Bartter, pastor of the Federated Church, as saying: The proposed home is uniting churches and citizens as nothing before has been able to do! Our story is an illustration of love in action. At Wheat State, we care for the whole person. We value our Christian heritage, serve our residents with love, and provide opportunities for spiritual growth and comfort. Show All
